TOXIC PINK BUBBLES (EP)
Summer Yuki releases her debut EP Toxic Pink Bubbles on June 27, 2025. The EP is a mix of pop, melodic rap, R&B, and funk, With a voice people compare to Amy Winehouse and femme-fatale energy reminiscent of Planet Her era Doja Cat, it explores themes of bodily autonomy, wielding sex as power, and the playfulness of a heartbreaker. Written in first person, it’s both deeply personal and wildly entertaining. “These were some of the first songs I wrote. I wasn’t ready to release share it until now because each song is like a diary entry — a toxic ridiculous eyebrow-raising diary entry,” Summer says. “I can’t say it reflects well on me, but I can say that it’s honest and relatable.”
The title Toxic Pink Bubbles came to Summer without much thought, yet it encompasses the project. Her behavior in each track is toxic, feminine, and full of bubbly humor. She started writing the EP while living in Brooklyn and working full-time as a journalist. “It was an intense time for me” Summer says. “There was a level of safety that I had never experienced in my life, and that gave me freedom. There was also a lot of pain. The good doesn’t cancel out the bad, so that freedom was paired with loss and disillusionment.”
